Just some more information for those interested: The 284 had a cousin in the IH lineup, the 274. The 274 was the same tractor, only built as an offset tractor. It replaced the Farmall/International Cub in 1979. The 274 appears to only have been offered in diesel. The 284 was offered as a 2wd or FWA tractor.
