Lost to the Ages On several of the bookshelves in Fort Dawnguard you will find a book called "The Aetherium Wars" that, when you read it flags the quest LOST TO THE AGES. While this quest is part of the Dawnguard expansion (it was added by it of course) it is not actually part of the Dawnguard story line! The Lost to the Ages quest takes the Dragonborn to four different locations in Skyrim to find Aetherium shards. You need to collect these shards and investigate a lost ancient Dwemer secret.
