The M11-A1 was a cheaper to manufacture (less work differentiating it from the standard line) P229 SAS. The SAS was meld treated so the edges were smoothed out, and cost significantly cheaper than the M11-A1 was which just had the rail removed. The SAS ended up being discontinued shortly after the M11-A1 came out. The m11-a1 is based off the 229. The difference between this and the 229 is the m11 has an upgraded trigger, no rail, phosphate coated internals, and sig night light sights. From what I understand this gun is based off an older 228 model that is long since discontinued. The 226 is a bit longer. The 226 equivalent of this gun is the 226 navy.
